Every purchase comes gift wrapped just like candy. Instead of throwing out our leftover fabric, we re-cut it and use it as gift wrap.

The girls then use the fabric for making fun headwear, scarves, doll blankets..you name it!

Repurposing is good for the planet and good for the imagination!

Hi, I'm the owner of TwirlyGirl. If you have a moment, I'd like to explain our pricing.

There's been a lot of talk recently about bringing manufacturing jobs back to America, and we're doing something about it. All of our garments are proudly made in Los Angeles, CA. The cost of American labor is substantially higher than it is overseas… especially when compared to major brands that are almost certainly employing sweatshop workers. Morally, this doesn't sit right with us. I don't plan on lining our pockets by exploiting the work of others. Especially when there are plenty of skilled workers in this country who deserve to be paid a fair wage.

So while we can't compete with these brands on pricing, we can beat them on quality. It's a little difficult to convey the quality of our garments on a website. You can't feel the softness of the fabrics. Nor can you see the quality of our stitching. Both of these attributes are what make our garments retain their shape and stand up to rigorous wear. To someone trained in garment construction, the difference is night and day. Of course, we back it all up with excellent customer service. Returning customers and great word of mouth has built our brand.

But back to our quality. Is quality that noticeable to a child? You bet it is. So many of our customers tell us that their children insist on wearing TwirlyGirl every day. They struggle to get their kids to take it off long enough to wash! Customers also tell us that their kids wear our clothing for 2+ years. We design our styles with growing room. Girls tend to grow up, not out. And because of our high quality, it still looks like new and will often get passed down to the next child. These are the comments of actual customers, and you can read them on the blue Reviews Tab on our website.

We believe every woman remembers her favorite childhood dress. She loved how it felt, and how it MADE her feel. TwirlyGirl operates with that one goal in mind: to create her favorite dress or skirt. To do this, there has to be something magical about every garment. Take for example our reversible twirly dresses. For a child, owning a reversible dress is the coolest thing ever. A reversible dress requires twice the fabric, twice the stitching, and twice the labor. That works out to be around $43 per dress. For a high quality dress Made in the USA, we believe the price is very reasonable. Our non-reversible clothing may not require as much fabric, but the added design elements increase our costs. (Wings might grow on fairies, but they don't grow on trees!) Put simply, these are not disposable, mass-market garments. Each version is produced in limited quantities with a lot of care and attention to detail. It's why girls will remember their TwirlyGirl dress or skirt forever.

I started sewing TwirlyGirl as a special gift to my two daughters. Soon other moms asked if I would sew dresses for their children. A business was born! In the beginning, I hand sewed them on our dining room table. Ten years later, we're a national brand and it's because we've found an abundance of customers who share our values. And because of our success, we're able to donate a portion of all sales to Childhelp, a national non-profit that helps abused children.

Over the years we've received plenty of comments about how expensive we are, but not once has a customer told us it wasn't worth it.

Happy Twirling,

Cynthia Jamin

Tea for Two… But Not with These Three

There are three creatures you should never invite to a tea party: The Giant Sullen Earthworm, Fred-Ned the Cat with Two Heads, and the Boy Made from Swiss Cheese..

The Boy Made from Swiss Cheese is every bit a gentleman, and under different circumstances, would make a wonderful companion. He’s charming, gracious, and certainly very introspective. (In fact, he keeps a “Dairy Diary.” It started as a spelling mistake but turned into something quite therapeutic.) He is, nonetheless, made from Swiss Cheese. And when he drinks tea, it spills from all his holes. It’s messy, hard to ignore in polite company, and to be perfectly honest… it wastes a lot of tea. (Tea doesn’t grow on trees, you know. It grows on plants.) By all means, invite the Boy Made from Swiss Cheese to other events. If the occasion involves crackers, he’ll be the life of the party. Just don’t let him stand in the sun, as he tends to ooze.

Fred-Ned the Cat with Two Heads is another tea party guest who is less than ideal. One head is named Fred, and the other head is named Ned and neither one of them likes the other. You’d think after all these years they’d find a way to get along. After all, they do see eye to eye almost all the time. Between the two of them, they have 18 lives which they’re quick to point out whenever you have a medical scare. Very rude, indeed.

And finally, there’s the Giant Sullen Earthworm. What a downer. It should come as no surprise that she doesn’t have a sunny disposition. After all, she spends most of her time underground. But a kind word and more positive attitude would go a long way towards making herself welcome. How many times can we hear her complain, “Yuck, these cookies don’t taste like dirt at all!”

Everyone else in the world can make a wonderful Tea Party companion. Be sure to wear your TwirlyGirl Tea Party dress. It’s perfect for an imaginative occasion.
