The Color-inator-maker 2000
Hello, my name is Bella and I just turned ten years old. My birthday wish was to become a dress designer at TwirlyGirl. Well, guess what? Yesterday, I got to take a tour of the TwirlyGirl Global Headquarters! On the 5 1/2 Floor there's a department called, "The Color Lab." This is where all the new TwirlyGirl colors are created for their fabrics. Most are visible to the human eye, but others, like "Ultra-violet Sensory Riot" can only be seen by butterflies. (Apparently, butterfly apparel is a small, but emerging market for TwirlyGirl dresses.)
The colors are produced using a special machine called, "The Color-inator-maker 2000." It's very easy to operate because there are only three buttons: Low, High, & Super-High-Dangerous-Never-Use. Why would anyone in their right mind label a button with such a tantalizing name? Do you see where I'm going with this story?
I'm a ten year old girl. I just had press it! If I were seven, I wouldn’t have thought twice. Seven year olds are too obedient. And if were thirteen, it would’ve been beneath me to even look at the thing. But I'm 10! I completely lack self-control and emotional maturity. Temperance is beyond my skill set. Even understanding these very words, as they pour out of my mouth, is beyond my ability!
Yes... I pressed the button, just to see if it was labelled accurately. And yes... it was. Immediately, the machine began to convulse and gyrate. Within seconds, smoke billowed. It began grinding and screaming with a roar that could awaken the Kraken from its oceanic slumber. "Eeeeeerrrrreekkkkggggeeeewww!!!!!!"
Then... complete silence.
Then, "BOOOOOM!!!!"
A horrible explosion ripped through the lab. Complete chaos and confusion. Workers rushed in carrying fire extinguishers. And when the smoke cleared, the priceless machine was completely destroyed. Even more tragic, my TwirlyGirl dress was shredded beyond repair. Immediately, armed security guards escorted me to the office of the President, Cynthia Jamin. She looked at me somberly, then shouted...
"That's it! You just gave me the greatest idea!"
And that's how the Pinwheel Dress was invented.
And that's how my birthday wish came true!
