It’ll Make Your Mouth Water
Charlotte had two daughters. Samantha, the older one, was happy and carefree. As long as she had a dress to twirl in, she had a smile on her face. Her baby daughter, Ella, on the other hand, was a little more difficult. Ella had something of a drooling problem. From dawn to dusk, the drool flowed from her mouth like water from an unplugged fire hydrant. The only thing missing were the children splashing in it on a hot summer’s day. Sometimes there would be!
Within minutes of getting dressed, Ella’s shirt would be soaked. Soon her pants and even her socks were squishing like sponges! The poor child couldn’t even crawl on the floor because it would create a slipping hazard for her big sister, Samantha, who don't forget, was always twirling. Charlotte hoped this problem would go away on its own. But when winter rolled around, she knew she couldn't put it off any longer. She was afraid that if she took Ella out of the house, she’d freeze over like a popsicle!
That's when Charlotte decided to take Baby Ella to a specialist. Dr. Sal Avate was his name, and he was "schooled in drool."
The doctor checked her mouth and her tongue and her teeth and her tonsils.
He consulted books and journals, and sought advice from his peers. And still, he couldn’t find a reason for Ella’s excessive drooling. This frustrated him to no end. And while poor Baby Ella endured the battery of tests, there was big sister Samantha, twirling happily in the corner.
Needless to say, all this colorful spinning was quite a distraction for the doctor, who was known more for his patients than patience. Finally, he could take no more.
“I can’t concentrate with all this twirling!” screamed the doctor in frustration.
Startled, Samantha froze in her tracks. And wouldn’t you know it, at that very moment, Baby Ella’s excessive drooling stopped as well.
“Hmm,” said the doctor. “Very interesting. Samantha, my good lass, would you mind twirling again.”
Samantha, a little gun shy from having just been reprimanded, looked at her mother for permission.
“It’s okay,” said the doctor. “I promise not to yell again.”
Very tentatively, Samantha started twirling. Then faster and faster and faster. And there was Ella drooling more and more and more!
“Eureka!” screamed the doctor, as he took out he prescription pad and scribbled frantically. He then handled the slip to a jubilant Charlotte. On it was the web address for twirlygirlshop.com.
“Get her a size 12-18. It comes with bloomers, she’ll love it!”
